Changing title not possible - communication error

Description

After creating a page in the Requirements space (we use Requirement Yogi 1.9.0) I wanted to change the page title but get the following error message:

It is then not even possible to close the page anymore:

We are using Confluence 6.3.1 and have colloborative editing enabled. I found somewhere that after disabling the feature you could rename pages again, but this didn't help and the same error still occured. We tried to reproduce it in a space that didn't use Requirement Yogi, but there the renaming worked fine.

What can we do to fix this? The only solution seems to be to delete the whole page and create a new page with the correct title.

Hi Adrien,

thanks a lot for fixing this bug so quickly! I just upgraded the Requirement Yogi and now I can change the title of the problematic page without any problems! We tried it back and forth with 2 different users and everything works just fine!
And I am happy that I could help with the best log file ever

Best regards,
Stefanie

I've just fixed this and release it as 1.9.1. Please upgrade and tell me how it goes. Thank you very, very much for reporting it so efficiently, you're also preventing other users from having the same problem!

Hi Stefanie,

You are, obviously, correct. The logs are unequivocal. I'll fix it and publish a release, hopefully in the next few hours, at worst tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'd like to award you the best log file ever. It captures exactly the problem, it doesn't disclose any other information that what is necessary to solve the problem, it really helps my work !

Best regards,
Adrien

Hi Adrien,

we tried to reproduce this bug in another space that does not use the Requirement Yogi, and there it did not occur so I am pretty sure that it has to do with the Requirement Yogi.
I am sure that I didn't disable Collaborative Editing while editing the page. In fact, we tried pretty much every combination of Collaborative Editing enabled and disabled, but in each and every case the page can't be renamed anymore.

Plase find attached the log files from the Requirement Yogi Start Capture process while I reproduced the bug.

Regards,
Stefanie

Hi Stefanie,

First of all I'm sorry for the problem you're facing. I hope at least you won't lose your data: You can at least copy-paste it to another page.

Do you think it's a Confluence problem or a Requirement Yogi problem? I've just tried making modifications at the same time with two users on my machine, including changing the title, with and without collaborative editing, and it works. I can at least tell they've thought about all major cases.

  • Are you sure you didn't disable Collaborative Editing while you were editing the page?

  • Can you please get the logs of Confluence while this is happening? The logs are located in Confluence's data directory (the path is provided in the "System Information" page) and I've even built a page in Requirement Yogi that helps you capture the logs (see Confluence Administration -> Requirement Yogi -> Start Capture).

Thank you very much,
Adrien
